[dms-discuss] Davis Makerspace Meeting

Yes, good point! If it's ok with you and everyone else, I will keep
scheduling Davis Makerspace meetings the first Monday of the month, same as
we used to. (If anyone needs to reschedule that's fine, please write back
with some suggestions of days and times.)

Yesterday Julie and I attended the meeting, and I filled her in about the
phone conversation I had with Crista from the library. Basically the
library has been overwhelmed with managing all the changes from the
pandemic. They are still excited to collaborate with Davis Makerspace but
they have had their plate full lately. However things are still moving
forward and they are having meetings with the county superintendent people
to find out what is possible to build and furnish the Davis Makerspace room
at the library with. Crista
said she would like to have a virtual meeting with us to discuss plans
soon.

The other thing Julie and I talked about was that I was planning on writing
down all the Davis Makerspace equipment that is stored in my garage because
I had never got around to updating our spread sheet. (Terrible, yes.) Julie
kindly offered to come by and help, so we'll do that this weekend. Let me
know if anyone wants to help. We speculated that if we could get organized
maybe we could set up our Davis Makerspace tools at the library, and get
them circulating in the library's existing tool lending library. That would
be especially useful for people during this pandemic.

That was about it for the meeting. 🙂 If anyone has ideas about other ways
to continue onward, I hope to see you at next month's meeting. Or at
another meeting or event that you schedule.

I have one idea, but it's not something I can pull off. Bill or someone
else, will you teach us how to monitor air quality with self made devices?
How would you feel about an online demonstration live from the Woodland
Makerspace? Is anyone else working on stuff that would be fun to share? I'm
happy to lend my zoom account for online events.
