[dms-discuss] Rolling Cart for Repair Cafe

Hi Emily,

11 should be fine. Some permanent staff work all day on their Sundays, others just a partial day, but I can make sure someone will be there at 11 on the date you choose. Attendees will only have access to the lobby and the Blanchard room until 1 pm when the library opens.

Question about the cart—is this something you foresee using regularly? If not, would it work to use a book truck (or a couple) similar to this one? That would allow us to save the money for the items needed for the maker space.

Thanks,
Crista

Thanks so much Crista!

We are communicating with LUGOD (Linux Users of Davis) to combine with one of their 'Install Fests'. Question about the Blanchard room:

If we wanted to commence at 11AM on a Sunday would that be possible? (Hours are usually from 1 - 5 on Sundays.) How would that work?

Thanks so much for your help and looking forward to hearing from you soon,

Emily

Hi Emily,

We will look into the cart options and let you know. In the meantime, I checked and the March and April dates have already been snatched up by community groups so I will book the room for May 17, 24 and June 14 and 21 and then cancel the dates you don't need once you settle on a date.

Thanks,
Crista

Dear Crista, Scott, and Mark,

In order set the date for the next Repair Cafe, we need to make sure we have an 'interim' rolling cart to house our tools. Then we can choose from the several options on our schedule a meeting<https://wiki.davismakerspace.org/schedule-meetings> page.

I'm copy pasting suggestions from an email of Rob's re: Rolling Carts:

Slick - https://www.amazon.com/Drawer-Stainless-Steel-Anti-Fingerprint-Station/dp/B01067885A/ref=sr_1_44?keywords=mobile+tool+cabinet&qid=1579026185&refinements=p_72%3A2661618011&rnid=2528832011&sr=8-44

Good Value, Interesting Design, not a lot of space, but could be coupled with another cabinet https://www.homedepot.com/p/Duramax-Building-Products-72-in-x-24-in-with-3-Drawers-Rolling-Industrial-Workbench-and-Wood-Top-68001/3049371

Rubbermaid - https://www.globalindustrial.com/p/tools/tool-storage/carts/5-drawer-mobile-work-center ($50 cheaper on amazon)
Thoughts about these? If you happen to have another one around that could be used, maybe that could work? Hope everyone is well!

Best always,

Emily
