August Meeting (Monday 08/05)

Fellow Makers-

This Monday is our August business meeting. Same time (7:00 PM), same place
(1337 Tim Spencer Alley). I'm super on top of the whole advanced notice
thing this month because we are going to have votes. You heard right.
Votes. Two votes. It's a bit overwhelming, I know. So much excitement we
should sell tickets to this one. Here's what we will be deciding on:

Item 1: Should we decouple access to the space from membership dues?

Currently our bylaws state that after 3 months of paying dues members are
entitled to 24/7 access to the space. This has been the source of
contention with the state regarding our non-profit status. Eliminating this
from the bylaws could potentially pave the way for us finally becoming an
official non-profit. We'll discuss what policy would replace this and
whether or not to proceed.

Item 2: Should we amend our articles of incorporation?

This one is also related to our ongoing non-profit quest. Basically we want
to modify our statement of purpose to make it clear that we are not a
exclusive membership-only organization.

See. I told you it was going to be exciting. Monday just can't get here
fast enough.

Once we've taken care of the voting we'll move on to the rest of the agenda:

* Discussion of dues
* Recap/discussion of Young Makers meeting
* Recap of flea market
* Update on group projects
* Pick a date for 3d printer workshop (seriously, this needs to happen)

That looks like enough stuff for one evening. Bring some projects for
show-and-tell. We'll try to get done in a reasonable amount of time.
