[dcw] Name update

There was some talk about this at the last meeting.  There were generally 2 camps, those favoring a more descriptive, less creative name; and those favoring a more creative, less descriptive name.

In general, there was a larger majority of those favoring more descriptive, less creative.  The main reasons put forth was that it was very easy to communicate to new people interested in joining (Davis Makerspace would be much more recognizable and wouldn't require much further explaination), and that domain space was easy to get.  (Please chime in if there were more reasons.)

That said, a lot of people in both camps could appreciate the merits of the other side.  Further discussion should be considered.

hey happy hacker of creative awesomeness,
I feel strongly that the actual location should have a more catchy name ... that is fine for the domain name in my opinion, but it is very blah in my opinion and i would prefer a random pick from the list over this name ... it is like saying lets make a vehicle and then making a car ... the most easy and already established vehicle in america ( in davis perhaps making a diamond frame bike is more appropriate for this metephor).  This seems like a computer listened in on the name discussion and picked a name based on keywords and picked what got said most.  that is all for my rant .. i was not there so hard or me to complain but i prefer almost any name on the list over this one.

Fellow Makers-

At the last meeting we came to a consensus regarding a name.

We are now (semi) officially the...
wait for it...

Davis Makerspace.

There were some in attendance (myself included) who preferred a less literal name. However, in the end, we all agreed that this name would make things much easier (obtaining a domain name for example). If you were not able to attend and are strongly opposed to the name let's discuss it in this thread. If there are no objections we will make it official at the next meeting and begin work on fun stuff like registering a domain name and setting up a website.
