Hey all,

Anyone interested and able to visit the library on the day/time Crista
mentioned below? Great to hear from everyone in the previous messages btw!
Looking forward to future Davis Makerspace get-togethers. 😊

Great! Glad there is still interest. We have scheduled the showroom visit
for Thursday, March 18, from 3:30-5. If anyone from the Davis Makerspace
can join us, that would be great. I realize it’s during work hours for many
of us though, so if not, any feedback you can give us before the visit
would be much appreciated.

Best,

Crista

Hello Crista,

Great to hear from you and wonderful that the library is moving forward
with the Davis Makerspace project!

As a community we've been hybernating during these Covid19 times, but I
sent out your message to the group and have been hearing replies from
several members over the past day.

We'll meet up and go through the list of furniture and give you some
feedback for sure. I'll see if anyone can do an in-person visit to the
space too.

Again, glad to hear back from you and here's to a great future ahead!

Emily

Hi there!

I hope this email finds you safe and healthy! It’s hard to believe it’s
been about a year since we last talked. I wanted to get in touch as the
library is moving forward again with the makerspace project. I know it’s
been a long time and circumstances change, so if you are no longer
interested in or able to work with the Davis Library on a makerspace,
please direct me to someone who might be.

We have a project lead from our General Services department of the county
who is working on the room plans and we are working with Campbell Keller to
look at furnishings and fixtures for the room. We are planning a visit to
their educational showroom in Rancho Cordova next week to look at some of
the design options they can offer. Given that you all have the expertise
with the equipment, we were hoping that one of you might be able to join us
at the showroom, or if not, at least provide some guidance for us on what
to look for before we go.

I have attached a spreadsheet with links to the items they showed us in a
virtual tour of the showroom. I know it’s a lot to weed through. If you
don’t have time to click on every link, the brands we are particularly
interested in are Diversified Woodcrafts, Fleetwood, Palmer Hamilton, and
Haskell. One particular question we had was: is wood best for all the
surfaces or do you need a different material for some of the tools that
people might be working with?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best,

Crista
