Hi Emily,

Sorry it’s taken me a while to respond to your message! I wanted to check
in with our staff here first as, while I know we stressed the importance of
being able to put away the equipment, I think we were hoping that we would
be able to make the makerspace a bigger, more robust resource than what
might fit on a cart. When our two groups last met and we looked at the
available spaces, we talked about potentially dedicating more space to the
makerspace by connecting the open area of the teen space with the study
room adjacent to it. We mentioned this possibility to our Friends of the
Library group, and it seems likely that they would be willing to provide
some funding for this. Perhaps some of us could meet again in person to
discuss? I just want to make sure we are all on the same page before moving
forward.

Is there a time after the holidays that would work for you?

Thanks so much!

Crista

Dear Crista,

Thank you for your patience waiting for our response! I apologize for my
and our delay. (We are all volunteers and we work using a consensus
process, so all decisions take time and tasks get completed gradually.)

Where are we now regarding a collaboration with the library?

   1. We are mobilizing our resources to create a minimal version of Davis
Makerspace that can be easily stowed away or kept on a rolling cart.
   2. We are passing around an MOU example that Roland has typed up.
   3. We've asked our community who is available for volunteering one night
per week and we have 4 volunteer time-slots and a backup (or two including
   me).

We have question for you. Is there a cart available at the library that
Davis Makerspace could use to wheel around a small 3D printer, a desktop
computer, and box of tools?

Thanks always,

Emily
