    - Will ceate a summary of donations from the last year, and will let people
know about what they donated for tax return stuff.
    - (Nicholas) after appealing for donations at last meeting, quite a little
bump of one-time donations (~$600); ~$1100 in bank.
  - Events committee
    - Art About that is coming up (1/9).
    - There was interest in electronic music, but Steve is not available.
    - Tim stepped in to do one about the rockets.
    - Sent in a description about it to the Art About people.
    - Will make rockets on Thursday night for shooting on Friday night.
    - Emily wants to take pictures of the rocket stuff so that we can have good
material to promote the actual rocket building.
    - Talk to Steve E. again about future music-based art about
    - (Jeff) Emily: Can you share the photos you have taken in and about the
      space?
      - Most available on her blog page on the website.
    - Aside
      - Emily and Nicholas have been very good at PR announcements; maybe they
can share their contacts and such before they leave.
      - Art about has been a major way of getting the word out
      - events email alias should be what info about art about goes to, but
Nicholas will make sure that future emails about art about (from
        Sandy?) will go there.
      - Rob Reiterates: the art about has been very good way to get work out;
maybe get contacts on the wiki
    - (Rob) the Internet of Things meet up went nicely.
      - (Emily) Suggest reaching out to computer science club of UCD list /
        facebook
      - No event thing went out on the website / list, unfortunately.
    - LUGOD will have a talk about Nix package manager
  - Key Committee
    - (Jeff) More volunteers in exchange for keys?
- Old Business
  - (Tim) Question about more powerful computer / graphics card for the 3d
    selfie?
    - Part of additions
- New Business
  - (Jeff) Annual report we are supposed to do as part of our incorporation,
though only a requirement if we took in >= $25,000.
    - Would like to know what out cash flow was this past year.
    - Will communicate about that post-meeting.
  - (Jeff) What should our directions be for 2015?
    - (James) More community utilization. E.g. tie in to the University
population. More people coming in, and using our resources.
      - (Tim) We don't really *have* something immediately useful for general
community, except for perhaps the plotter.
    - (Jim) ways to do this w/o spending huge amonuts of money
      - e.g. Arduino station w/ development classes; he would be willing to
        work on that.
      - (Tim) Scheduled class vs having a resource at the space?
      - (Jim) Could imagine various audiences, e.g. kids picking it up fast,
musicians who could augment their art with it, etc.
      - (Nicholas) Could have a curriculum; and with having the stuff here,
the pieces of the progression of projects could be reused and
repurposed in the space, outside of a given workshop. I.e. trying it
out outside of a classroom situation.
      - (Jim) Indeed, such curricula exist.
      - (Nicholas) has some supplies to donate
      - The hard part is people who don't know what they are doing are a bit
scared off, but people who *do* know what they are doing don't see
any resources that they don't already have.
      - (Tim) Make magezine, etc, have many example of projects, and one
could have members who could show off their build of those things, so
that others who want to do them would have an example and resouce,
        e.g. like the air rocket.
      - (Nicholas) THis could be presented during the Art About, for example.
    - (Emily) Worth talking to Third Space, to invite artists from there to
come here for Art About and present something? I.e. invite someone in,
and make what is here more apartment, and structure it into a timeline.
Accountability could be a challenge, but has potential.
    - (Jeff) Would like more regular donars, e.g. the PayPal monthly donation.
    - (Rob) worth reaching out to people who used to attend more but haven't
      been by lately?
      - E.g. What's up with Steve I. and Larry?
    - (Rob) just need more opportunities for people to come by and then stick.
    - (Jeff) Agrees that the events, especially the Art About, are very nice
      for getting the word out.
    - (Tim) Upgrade idea: 90% of people who come by his hours want to see the
3d printer working. There is a nice metal version of the Printrbot
Simple that is getting good reviews. Can we perhaps upgrade the existing
one to the newer version? We could talk to Mick about it.
      - (Jim) can talk to Mick.
    - (Nicholas) Open hours; rather than evenings, but maybe even occationally
if we were open all day during the weekends, we might get more people who
      could drop by.
      - Feel like many people don't come back because there is not a convinient
time for them to drop by.
      - Maybe not every week, but it would be nice to be regular. Could start
        as a special event.
      - Harder now that Nicholas and EMily are leaving, of course.
      - Maybe gear it around little mini-talks or presentation by a string of
        people?
      - Overall, the hours are a limited factor, it feels like.
      - (Jeff) We tried to expand open hours w/ the giving of keys, but it
didn't seem to generate that much additional interest.
      - Definitely open hours on the weekend would be nice, given the amount of
people wandering around on the weekend.
      - (Bill) one off event? (Jeff) Seems like regular would be best.
    - Continue the brunches!
- Additions
  - (Tim) Candy Czar
    - Candy is now back in the machine now that it won't melt.
    - Will make a blinky sign with the foam cutter
    - (Bill) Volunteer to make kits for the candy machine.
      - (Tim) has started; they will collaborate
  - (Rob) Sarndbox update
    - Johnothan of Explorit is getting a high end graphics card.
    - Perhaps can use the projector in the space to try out the sarndbox in the
      space.
    - Need a temporary motherboard and power supply; couldn't find anything at
      Bargain Barn
      - Maybe the motherboard in one of the Bargain Barn systems could do it.
    - Can use the system while working on Sarndbox to also use the Printrbot
      Selfie
    - Still would need a copy of Windows 7 + scanning software (Skinect);
Nicholas will ask about getting a lower cost copy of the software from
the company, since we are a nonprofit.
    - (Jim) how powerful does the board need to be? Can check at Ali's.
    - (James) can also check for old towers.
    - (James) Microsft has 90 day images of Windows 7 for development purposes
      that we could look into.
  - (Rob) Internet
    - In downtown Davis there is VDSL2 available, up to 24 MBits, even 50 MBits
      over short distances.
    - To this building, close enough that could get 50 MBits for the same price
      as we're doing now.
    - So, if you are downtown and want faster internet for the same price, do
      it.
    - Distance is measured from AT&T central office.
  - (Rob) Gigabit fiber
    - Wrote up a white paper about how gigabit fiber might work in the city if
owned by the city, with other providers having transit over that network.
    - Been talking to people about this idea
    - Got mailing list launched, been getting good feedback from smart people
      about moving forward.
    - Encourage us to keep talking up municipal fiber
    - This year wants to really get that moving.
    - Will send link to email list to discuss list.
  - (Rob) JumpStart Davis people want to make coworking space downtown.
    - If they did gigabit, then could do a wireless gigabit hop to where we
are, since owned and managed by the same property manager, and so we
could benefit from gigabit here at the space.
  - Meeting for the directors to discuss responsibilties, etc.
    - ... talk about when directors are going to meet ...
    - Monday 12th would work for everyone, 6pm.
    - An email reminder will be sent.
  - (Braden) Report on to what degree bylaws allow for distribution of
    responsibilties.
    - president:
      - preside at all meetings (by way of responsibilities of Chairman)
        - no definition of 'preside'; seems to provide a lot of interpretation.
      - general manager of the corporation and shall supervise, direct, and
control the corporation's activities, affairs, and officers.
    - secretary:
      - every duty includes the statement "shall keep or *cause to be kept*"
(emphasis mine). So it seems built-in that these reposibilities can be
        distributed.
    - treasurer:
      - Similar to secretary, includes statement "cause to be kept", except for:
        - disburse the corporation's funds as the corporation may order
        - render to the president and chairman of the board, if any, when
requested, an account of all transactions as chief financial officer
and of the financial condition of the corporation
    - (Tim) If we do end up distributing, would be good to cite the above
reasoning for anything we end up distributing.
- Meeting adjourned at 20:13
