the firmware etc but I was able to print today! I'm
using the Repetier-Host AppImage and the Prusa fork of
Slic3r Appimage (AppImage is the recommended runtime for
both programs). I can do a write-up later this week but
the executables are located in ~/home/threed/AppImages
and can be run via command line or double click (they
are also in the system menu but so is the old repetier
installation which I think is bad), run them without
sudo (sudo can be problematic for graphical programs).

250000 baud appears to be working. The printer does need
a new bed (a simple wood block), the mdf is falling
apart and uneven so I had to wedge some paper under it
to get the z axis right. It definitely still needs some
tweaking, but behold the almighty glory of the
futuristic technology now in our posession!! (attached)

I tried to get the new marlin firmware uploaded with
the lower baud rate buit tried to verify the sketch
and it wouldnt verify, or I guess there is a mono
patch to allow other baud rates.
Not so much luck and too hot by the printer.
